Under the EN420 regulations if gloves are CE marked they must fall under one of the following categories:
Simple design (category 1)
For the areas of "minimal risk where the effects of not wearing a glove are superficial or easily reversible."
Intermediate design (category 2)
For areas of specific risk either mechanical, chemical or both.
Complex design (category 3)
For areas with a definite risk where the effects of not having protection could cause serious or irreversible harm.
Simple design gloves do not carry any markings. Intermediate and complex designed gloves are tested against specific hazards and marked accordingly.
